Establishment of a new department at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem to give the people of Israel a true picture of American and American was urged here by Dr. Israel S. Wechsler, national president of the American Friends of the Hebrew University.
Dr. Wechsler suggested the creation at the Hebrew University of an Institute of American Civilization. It should consist, he said, of three chairs, one each in American History, Literature and Government. He spoke before a meeting of the California Chapter of the A.F.H.U. which was attended by many local Jewish leaders and leading Los Angeles medical men.
