“Latest reports from Palestine are encouraging,” asserted Dr. Chaim Weizmann, before sailing on the Acquitania for Europe today.
“Unemployment,” he continued,” has been materially reduced until it is no longer a serious problem. The Government is permitting immigration to proceed at a faster pace than ever before, a fact which indicates clearly that the economic situation is improving. More colonies are being established and more houses are being built. Our relations with our Arab neighbors are improving, as they are bound to in a growing and prosperous Palestine. All of this improvement is due in the largest measure to the Palestine Foundation Fund. In making this work possible the Jews of America are once more playing the leading role.”
Dr. Weizmann stated that since most of the countries are closing their gates to the Jewish people, a great number of Jews in Poland and elsewhere were anxious to migrate to Palestine, and that the Keren Hayesod was making the granting of this desire possible.
He also stated his belief that the movement for the Jewish Agency, started by Louis Marshall and his associates would proceed successfully and do much to promote the Jewish Homeland, movement.
Dr. Berthold Feiwel, Managing Director of the Keren Hayesod, who sailed with Dr. Weizmann, stated that he was note to notice, in spite of his short stay, that American Jewry is not only ready to aid in the upbuilding of Palestine, morally and politically, but all financially.
