Dr. William A. Wexler, international president of B’nai B’rith, has been elected to a one-year term as chairman of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations. He succeeds Rabbi Herschel Schachter, presidents of Mizrachi-Hapoel Hamizrachi, who served two one-year terms.
The conference was established in 1955 as a coalition body of the leaders of 23 national Jewish organizations. It engages in cooperative actions on matters affecting the security and well-being of Jews in Israel and elsewhere. Dr. Wexler will take office in January.
