Dr. Stephen S.Wise has been selected as a member of the New York State delegation to the Democratic Convention to fill the vacancy created by the death of Charles F. Murphy, according to an announcement made last night by Franklin D. Roosevelt, convention floor leader of the delegation. It was understood that Dr. Wise had been chosen because of his ability as an orator and because he represented geographically the East Side district.
Dr. Wise said that he had accepted the appointment, but that he did not expect to fill Mr. Murphy’s place, “who, for obvious or reasons, I cannot replace.”
