An 80-year-old scholar and writer, Dr. Yehoshua Yeivin, became Israel’s national Bible champion after four hours of close competition with 12 other district champions.
Benjamin Magentza, a 23-year-old student at Bar-Ilan University, came in second in the contest, a national event here. Third place was won by 17-year-old Joseph Toubi of Jerusalem. Prime Minister David Ben-Gurion congratulated Dr. Yeivin on winning the championship and presented him the prize of 1, 000 Israel pounds.
