High praise for the thousands of men and women workers who have to date raised $704,000 toward the Greater New York quota of $1,200,000 in the United Jewish Appeal was voiced by Felix M. Warburg, national chairman, yesterday as results of five weeks of the drive were made public by the three New York co-chairmen, I. Edwin Goldwasser, Nathan Straus Jr., and Ira M. Younker.

The fund-raising effort for the relief and rehabilitation of German Jews and the settlement of Jews in Palestine will continue throughout the summer, it was announced. Trade and professional groups are in the midst of organizing to aid the campaign. Among these is the physicians division headed by Dr. Nathan Ratnoff, which will have its meeting at a luncheon tomorrow at the Hotel Commodore. On July 1 the headquarters of the New York drive will be removed from the Hotel Commodore to 100 East Forty-second street.

The response of New York Jews, Mr. Warburg declared, has “comforted in their agony the victims of the most atrocious outburst of anti-Semitism in history.” Of the participants in the drive, he said:

EXPRESS APPRECIATION

“It is fitting that at this time the officers of the United Jewish Appeal, speaking in the name of those for whom they have called upon American Jewry to serve and to give, should express their grateful appreciation to them for what they have already done, for what they have pledged themselves to do.

“Their efforts are greatly enheartening to us—but—more than that, they have strengthened those who are bearing the brunt of the attack, which is not merely upon them but upon all the Jews of the world. It has comforted in their agony the victims of the most atrocious outburst of anti-Semitism in history; it has steeled them to resist the attempt to debase and degrade them; it has fortified their soul, and it has given them assurance of better days to come.”

Among medical men who comprise the physicians division are:

Edwin Beer, Abraham J. Beller, A. A. Berg, Ralph Colp, Morris Davidson, Joseph Diamond, Albert A. Epstein, Louis Friedman, Jacob J. Golub, Isidore W. Held, Alfred M. Hellman, Abraham Hyman, Harry Isaacs, Benjamin Jablons, Julius Jarcho, David J. Kaliski, Samuel J. Kopetzky, Emanuel Libman, William Linder, Alex Luria, Leo Mayer, B. S. Oppenheimer, H.
