The election campaign for the forthcoming nineteenth World Zionist Congress was opened yesterday in the United States when the administrative committee of the Zionist Organization of America, in a session at the Astor Hotel, appealed to all Zionists throughout the United States to vote for candidates of the General Zionists.
Only General Zionism can realize the upbuilding of Palestine as a Jewish national home, it was pointed out at the session.
At the same time, a convention of Zionist laborites at the Manhattan Opera House decided to sell not less than 100,000 shekel certificates in America in order to secure more labor delegates to the forthcoming Zionist Congress.
The governing council of the Zionist Organization of America will issue a manifesto to all American Zionists and friends of the Jewish upbuilding work in Palestine, in which the principles of General Zionism will be explained, in order to obtain more votes for the General Zionists.
