Secretary of Labor Arthur J. Goldberg today received an honorary Doctor of Literature degree from the Dropsie College for Hebrew and Cognate Learning at the school’s 55th Founder’s Day Convocation and commencement exercises. Dr. Salo W. Baron, professor of Jewish history at Columbia University, received an honorary Doctor of Laws degree.
Graduates of the school who were awarded degrees at the commencement were Samuel H. Dinsky of Brooklyn, N. Y., Herbert K. Lerman of New York City and Robert J. Ream of Harrisburg, Pa., who were awarded doctor of philosophy degrees; Edward Orentlicher of New York City, doctor of education; and Ferydoon Firoozi of Teheran, Iran and Neville J. Mandel of Glasgow, Scotland, master of arts.
