The prolonged and protracted negotiations over the formation of a new coalition as well as the internal crisis that accompanied the negotiations had an adverse affect on the diaspora Jewry, according to Leon Dublin, acting chairman of the Jewish Agency.
Addressing a luncheon meeting here of the Engineering Club, he added that leaders of the Zionist movement who attended the Actions Committee meetings here two weeks ago left the country in a very low spirit as a result of the present situation in Israel. They could not grasp why, when Israel is under a state of emergency, the leaders of the country cannot rise above internal rifts and form a united front to strengthen the nation and raise its morale, Dublin said.
As to the question of Who is a Jew, he said it is a question for the whole Jewish nation to discuss, not merely a question for coalition conditions.
