J. Addington Wagner, national commander of the American Legion, has asked Secretary of State Dulles for a “forthright statement” explaining the Government’s attitude on a pending parole for Nazi SS Col. Joachim Peiper, who is serving a life term for mass murder.
Col. Peiper personally ordered the shooting of American war prisoners at Malmedy, Belgium, and participated in atrocities against Jews and others. The State Department had no comment to make on the request of the American Legion commander.
