Dusseldorf police, aided by four teenage youths, are searching for young vandals who daubed swastikas and Nazi slogans on a church, several shop windows and on about 20 parked cars.
In Osnabruck, 39 members of the City Council apparently failed to persuade two of their colleagues representing the right-wing National Democratic Party (NPD) not to join them on a goodwill visit to the Dutch city of Haarlem. The Osnabruck Council members were invited by the Haarlem city fathers but feared that the presence of members of the NPD in the liberal Dutch town would mar the visit.
