The public prosecutor of this city has refused to take legal action against Mayor Frans M.A. Schokking of this city on charges brought by Miriam Pino, sister of the late Jacob Pino who was deported from Holland by the Nazis, together with his wife and daughter, allegedly on a tip to the Gestapo by Dr. Schokking when he was wartime mayor of the village of Hazerswoude.

The prosecutor noted that the authorities had considered the Schokking case in 1949 and had then decided to take no action on the charges. Under these circumstances, he advised Miss Pino, her only recourse lay with the Supreme Court. The case has aroused considerable interest here since the press publicized the details several months ago, and Parliament is scheduled to debate it after the Easter recess.
