Each ministry of the Israeli Government will open a branch office in Jerusalem, a large meeting of Jerusalem representatives was told today by members of a special Cabinet committee. Each of the five ministries comprising the Jerusalem committee spoke to the gathering.
Dr. Bernard Joseph, newly-appointed Israeli military governor of Jerusalem, outlined the general policies of his administration to the meeting. It was also announced that the government will appoint a representative committee of 13 Jerusalem leaders to assist Joseph.
(In Tel Aviv last night the government announced that the 25-mile strip of land through Arab territory from Jerusalem to the Jewish coastal strip has been formally placed under occupation. The move is aimed at guaranteeing communications and transport between Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. It was also announced that settlements and permanent utilities were under construction in the strip which extends through Bah el Wad to Hulda.)
