Easing of the rigid security regulations which have been in effect for many months was announced tonight. As of tomorrow morning British officials will be permitted to travel around the country without escorts, expert for certain zones – chiefly Jewish – where terrorist acts were committed. The still unsafe zones will be proclaimed as such by the local district commissioners.
Seventeen wives and children of Kaifa officials of the Iraq-Petroleum Company, who were evacuated to Lebanon when the security regulations were introduced, arrived at the Palestine border today and demanded permission to rejoin their husbands and ?theres. The authorities, who are extremely embarrassed by the move, are still re-Easing to grant them permission, but the women are adamant. The IPC sent food to the town of Rasell Nakura, where they are congregated.
