The remaining 1,070 visaless Jewish immigrants from the blockade runners Redemption and Jewish State were today deported to Cyprus aboard British transports in an operation which began at dawn and was barely completed as the sun settled over the harbor.
In all some 4,200 Jews were transferred since Friday morning. Among the passengers shipped today were 504 men, 403 women and 163 children. One of the women was a stretcher case.
Dispatches from Cyprus, meanwhile, announced that the Empire Shelter arrived here this morning with 402 of the refugees dispatched from Haifa yesterday. The British transport Snowden Smith arrived late yesterday at Famagusta with 835 refugee passengers, all of whom were taken to the Xlotymbou camp.
