The Israeli general who liberated East Jerusalem in June, 1967, and the eight-year-old son of his deputy commander who was killed in action later, kindled the eighth and last Chanukah light yesterday in the huge silver menorah erected near the West Wall. The honor went to Brig. Gen. Mordecai Gur, commander of the paratroop brigade that drove Jordanian forces out of the city in a fierce battle which ended 19 years of Jordanian occupation. He was assisted by the son of the late Col. Moshe Peless who lost his life in a clash with Arab marauders.
