The establishment of a Hilled Foundation at an eastern university was decided upon at a joint meeting of the directors of the various Hillel Foundations and the B’nai Brith Hillel Foundation Commission held here. Steps for its establishment will be taken with the beginning of the scholastic year 1928-1929.
Cornell University, Ithaca, N.Y., was selected for the college of first approach. With the beginning of the scholastic year the student body, the faculty and the community will be approached in regard to the establishment of the Foundation there, and if the results of this negotiation prove favorable for the establishment of a B’nai Brith Hillel Foundation, immediate steps will be taken to this end.
A similar procedure will be followed in the establishment of the first extension unit in the University in Morgantown, W. Va., with a smaller number of students than would justify a fully equipped Hillel Foundation. The establishment will be based upon the negotiations with the students, faculty and the surrounding Jewish community.
Rabbi Louis L. Mann was unanimously elected as Acting National Director of the Hillel Foundation.
