The City Council here has unanimously approved a petition urging President Truman to give prompt consideration to the Quoddy Village plan proposed by Frank Cohen, New York Jewish industrialist. The soho?o, which has aroused wide interest, calls for the setting up of a training center for Jewish DP families and for their eventual emigration to Latin American countries.
Meanwhile, the Council was meeting today with officials of the War Assets Administration, which controls Quoddy Village, to explain to them why “our hope for future prosperity and welfare” depends on the setting up of the center. It is expected that as soon as the W.A.A. turns Quoddy over to the city of Eastport, plans for the establishment of the DP center will be implemented.
