Israel’s delegate to the United Nations, Abba Eban, conferred today with Assistant Secretary of State Francis O. Wilcox on Israel’s request for an emergency session of the Security Council to halt at once the Syrian aggression on Israel’s borders.
After the meeting, Ambassador Eban stressed that Israel hopes the Council will act to nip at this time Syrian aggression before matters grow worse. He said Israel’s objective in calling for an urgent session is to check Syrian aggressive tendencies. He called yesterday’s artillery raking of nine Israeli villages cause enough to justify emergency action.
