Israel Ambassador Abba Eban today met with Secretary of State John Foster Dulles and participated in an exchange of views on the situation in the Middle East. It is believed that Lebanon was discussed in some detail.
Mr. Eban said only that a friendly exchange took place on all problems of common interest in the Middle East. The Ambassador said he saw the Secretary of State because he is returning to Israel next week for leave and consultation. Mr. Eban will remain in Israel until the end of August.
In response to questioning by newsmen, the Ambassador said the Israel Government has watched Lebanese events with vigilance but had made no statement. He made known that he did not intend to break this policy of reticence.
