Israel’s Deputy Prime Minister, Abba S. Eban, conferred here today with Secretary-General U Thant on various international problems, including issues of interest to the Middle East region. Mr. Eban, who is here as a member of the 18 man United Nations Advisory Committee on Science and Technology, which is considering ways to aid underdeveloped countries, also discussed with the Secretary-General the U.N.’s role in the development field. He was accompanied to the conference by Israel’s permanent representative here, Ambassador Michael S. Comay.
Tonight, Mr. Eban delivered a lecture on “Israel and the Developing Countries” before Latin American delegates to the United Nations, under the auspices of the Israel Iberoamerican Institute. Leading the South American diplomats at that function was the current president of the U. N. General Assembly, Dr. Carlos Sosa-Rodriquez, of Venezuela.
