Israel Ambassador Abba Eban met today at his own request with George V. Allen, Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs, and later indicated that they had discussed not only the Gaza incident, but all matters of security both long-term and immediate.
He made known that he continued with Mr. Allen the discussion on Israel’s security situation that had been carried on between the Israel and American Governments at high level for the last several months. The Ambassador characterized today’s lengthy meeting–one and three-quarter hours–as a general exchange of views on security and economic questions of mutual interest to the United States and Israel.
