The fact that the Arab terrorists can “act freely unhampered in Germany and Great Britain indicates that these countries are not fully sovereign. I do hope these countries open their eyes and change their liberal policy,” declared Foreign Minister Abba Eban as he left today on his way to New York to attend the United Nations General Assembly. Eban stressed that the London murder of the Israeli diplomat is a continuation of the Munich tragedy.
The Foreign Minister added that the war against terrorists is now the center of “our interest.” Following the terrorists’ failure in bringing the war into Israel and in the administered territories or along the borders they transferred their activities to foreign lands, Eban said, Israel, he added, must prepare itself for a war against the terrorists and prepare itself carefully.
Asked about the various statements and suggestions concerning the terror voiced in foreign countries, Eban said that while it is encouraging to hear such statements, the main problem is whether these are translated into real action. Eban said he will meet with US Secretary of State William P. Rogers and will relay to him an Israeli suggestion to fight the terrorists, curtail their freedom, and check their activities.
