Abba Eban, chairman of the Israel delegation here since Israel was admitted to United Nations membership in May, 1949, today bade formal farewell to the UN Secretariat. Mr. Eban and his family will sail for Israel tomorrow aboard the SS United States, en route to Jerusalem.
Accompanied by Joseph Tekoah, who now succeeds to the post of Israel’s permanent representative here, Mr. Eban visited Secretary General Dag Hammarskjold to say goodbye. Then the two visited Dr. Ralph J. Bunche, Undersecretary for Political Affairs; and Andrew W. Cordier, Mr. Hammarskjold’s executive assistant.
