Abba Eban, Israel’s Foreign Minister, returned today from an extended visit to Asian countries with concrete proposals for cooperation from Japan, Australia and New Zealand for Israel’s plans to devote special efforts to aid the development of certain Asian countries.
The Foreign Minister, who visited nearly a dozen Asian countries, said that most of those nations were ready for closer cooperation with Israel.
Israel and New Zealand agreed today to raise the ranks of their diplomatic representatives in the two countries from Minister to Ambassador. Announcement of the agreement was made simultaneously here and at Wellington. The Foreign Ministry here said that Israel’s Ambassador to Canberra, capital of Australia, will become the non-resident Ambassador to Wellington.
