Foreign Minister Abba Eban left today on a four-day official visit to Costa Rica, returning the visit that the Costa Rican Foreign Minister made to Israel some time ago. The Foreign Ministry said that Eban would utilize a brief stop-over in New York for consultations with Yosef Tekoah, Israel’s Ambassador to the United Nations. Tekoah is participating in the current Middle East debate in the General Assembly. Eban announced a week ago that he would not attend this debate.
The Foreign Ministry said Eban was scheduled to participate in an international Socialist gathering in London following his Central American visit. According to reports published here today. Premier Golda Meir has accepted in principle an invitation to attend an international gathering of Socialist leaders in Paris. Definite plans will be made only after contacts with the French government, the reports said.
