(Jewish Daily Bulletin)
The Cross of the Legion of Honor was conferred by the French Government upon Louis Eckstein, president of the Ravinia Opera Company, “in recognition of Mr. Eckstein’s service to music in general and to French music in particular.” The decoration, carrying with it the title of Chevalier, was presented to Mr. Eckstein by Count de Ferry de Fontnouvelle, consul in Chicago of the French Republic.
The citation mentions the production during Ravinia’s past “most brillant season” of many operas.
