Prime Minister Sir Anthony Eden has been asked by the Board of Deputies of British Jews to raise the question of the isolation of the Jews of Eastern Europe from the rest of world Jewry at the “summit” conference of the Big Four which opened at Geneva today. This was revealed here last night by Barnett Janner, president of the Board, at a meeting of the organization.
Mr. Janner disclosed that the Board had pointed out to the Prime Minister the hardships involved in the virtual embargo on Jews leaving the Communist countries. Survivors of the Nazi holocaust in Eastern Europe have been cut off from other members of their families in countries outside the Soviet bloc. The arrangement of facilities for exchanging visits and for the reunification of families would ease a human problem as well as contribute to the abatement of tension, the Board told Sir Anthony.
