Foreign Secretary Anthony Eden promised in the House of Commons today to investigate allegations that three foreign governments subsidized the recent Palestine Arab disorders accompanying the six-month Arab general strike against Jewish immigration and the Government.
Replying to a query by Tom Johnston, Laborite, Capt. Eden denied having knowledge of the alleged role by the foreign governments. Mr. Johnston had asked “whether any of those governments are members of the League of Nations, whether any explanations have been asked from, or protests made to these governments, and if so with what result?”
Germany, Italy and Soviet Russia have on various occasions been linked to the Palestine disturbances in unsupported charges in Commons and the press.
