Hersch Smoliar, editor of the Yiddish newspaper, Folkstimme, published in Warsaw, told Israel journalists here today that his paper maintains the only contact possible “under the present circumstances” between Russian Jews on the one hand and Jews in Poland and the rest of the world on the other.
Mr. Smoliar, currently visiting Israel, was the guest of Tel Aviv journalists today and was greeted by a number of speakers. He stressed the importance of his paper to Polish Jewry which, according to his estimate, numbers now between 28,000 and 30,000 persons.
