A code of ethics adopted unanimously by the National Education Association, meeting here in convention, bars propaganda of every description from public schoolrooms.
“The schoolroom,” says the code, “is not the proper theater for religious, political or personal propaganda. The teacher should not permit his educational work to be used for partisan politics, personal gain or selfish propaganda of any kind.”
The code was drawn up by a special committee after five years’ research. It contains a number of things never before set forth explicitly for the guidance of teachers.
