A coast-wide educational program to carry Jewish religious and educational advantages to children in rural communities where no congregations exist, has been launched under the auspices of District Grand Lodge No. 4 of the B’nai Brith.
Launching of this extensive program came with the appointment of Rabbi Eliot M. Burstein of this city to the chairmanship of the district committee in charge of the project. The appointment was made by Jack Findling of Salt Lake City, grand president of the district.
Rabbi Burstein, who is president of the Board of Jewish Ministers of Northern California, plans an extensive correspondence course in Jewish religious training, history and kindred subjects, and it is hoped that in this way education will be given to hundreds of boys and girls otherwise deprived of this opportunity.
The project was outlined at the last district grand lodge convention in Salt Lake City.
