Educational programs designed to encourage peaceful coexistence between Jewish and Arab youths in Israel have little effect, a study found. According to the study, published this month by Haifa University’s Faculty of Education, Jewish and Arab youths who take courses meant to sensitize them to the political thoughts and sensitivities of each others’ communities do not abandon their own core prejudices. The research focused on more than 1,000 pupils aged 15 and 16 who participated in coexistence programs for seven months.
