More than 275 educators, college students and teenagers have left for study courses in Israel under auspices of the American Friends of the Hebrew University, the National Committee for Labor Israel and the America-Israel Secondary School program.
The Office of Academic Affairs of the American Friends said 56 American participants, including two nuns, will begin summer studies Wednesday at the Hebrew University.
The last of four groups of 150 American and Canadian college students left for a six-week sojurn in Israel. They will spend 18 days working in three collectives in the Negev, under auspices of the Histadrut Foundation for Educational Travel.
The third of four groups of teenagers, totaling 100 boys and girls, left under auspices of the Histadrut Foundation for Educational Travel to spend the summer at Kfar Hayarok, an agricultural school, and at Kibbutz Gesher Haziv in the Galilee.
Another 21 American teenagers left for a second year of high school study in Israel under auspices of the American-Israel Secondary School program. After an initial period studying Hebrew, they will spend the academic year at the Alonei Yitzhak Secondary School.
