Standing committees of American and Israeli educators established at a conference in Jerusalem, will draft outlines of textbooks on Israel’s society for American schools and on American society for Israeli schools, it was announced here today.
The announcement was made by Rabbi Mordecai Waxman, chairman of the American Histadrut Cultural Exchange Institute under whose auspices a group of six American rabbi-educators conferred earlier this month with an Israeli team of educators in Jerusalem. The Department of Higher Education of Histadrut, the Israeli Confederation of Labor, was a co-sponsor.
“The outcome of the conference, ” Rabbi Waxman reported, “was the establishment of standing committees of Israeli educators and American rabbi-educators to continue liaison between the two groups, and to develop a program of close cooperation.
