The six-member states of the European Economic Community and the four candidates for membership agreed here yesterday to give unanimous support to the Security Council’s Resolution 242 as the only way to peace in the Middle East. The agreement was disclosed by Foreign Minister Aldo Moro of Italy which is playing host to the EEC foreign ministers. He said that some of his colleagues stressed the need to have Western Europe extend diplomatic assistance to the current American peace initiative in the Mideast. The directors of the six-member states’ foreign ministries will try to work out detailed proposals for a guaranteed peace settlement in the Middle East, Moro said.
