Egypt has banned the use of GPS devices without government permission.
The law, which was passed in 2003, applies to residents of Egypt and to tourists, according to the Israeli business daily Globes. Many Israelis travel to the Sinai for vacations, despite security warnings.
Syria and North Korea have similar laws.
