The Egyptian Government is preventing I.R.O.-chartered vessels carrying Jewish DP passengers from passing through the Shez Canal, the New York Times reported today in a Geneva dispatch.
The S.S. Wooster Victory, transporting Shanghai and North China refugees, was ordered to sail around the Cape of Good Hope, I.R.O. officials in Geneva confirmed. The ship is en route to Italy with 654 passengers, among whom are 372 bound for Israel, the report added.
