The Cairo Radio today called on Gaza inhabitants to stage pro-Egyptian demonstrations during United Nations Secretary General Dag Hammarskjold’s visit to the Strip next week. The demonstrations should prove the Gaza Arabs fidelity to Egypt, their desire to be united with that country and their “sufferings” under the present regime — the UN Emergency Force–the announcer prompted.
If the performance is carried off well, he pledged, Egypt will pour large sums into the area for development purposes. It was noted here that in the three months which Israel occupied the Gaza Strip it put more money into developments than Egypt had in the previous decade.
