The Egyptian authorities have confiscated a cargo of Israeli olive oil and fruit juices valued at 160,000 pounds ($448,000) aboard a vessel which touched at the port of Alexandria, the British-controlled Near East Radio reported today in a broadcast monitored here.
The announcer also reported a statement by Egyptian Foreign Minister Salah el Din that all ships carrying food to Israel would in the future be stopped, in compliance with the recent Arab League decisions extending the economic boycott of the Jewish state. Egypt still considers herself at war with Israel, the Foreign Minister said, and it will not allow Israel-bound vessels into Egyptian waters.
