Egypt temporarily opened its border with the Gaza Strip.
The Rafah border crossing was opened Saturday to allow Palestinian patients to seek medical treatment outside Gaza. The three-day opening also will allow the return of Palestinians who left Gaza after Hamas blew up the border wall in January and found themselves stranded in the Egyptian Sinai.
Egypt has kept Rafah mostly closed as part of the Israeli- and U.S.-led campaign to limit imports to Gaza and generate Palestinian pressure on the Hamas regime there.
