Egyptian troops in the Gaza area opened fire on an Israel patrol today, using mortars and machine guns. Israel artillery replied.

The Arabs opened fire when the patrol, discovering a double landmine, halted and began to dig it up. After the artillery exchange ended, the mines were dismantled, and proved to be Egyptian manufactured. Israel complained to the Mixed Armistice Commission.
