Members of an Egyptian “goodwill mission” today expressed “great appreciation for the attitude” of the United States toward Egypt and made it clear the Nasser government has no intention of allowing Israel shipping to use the Suez Canal when it is re-opened.

Dr. Hussin Kamel Selim, spokesman for the group, insisted that since the events of late October “not one foreign national has been molested” in Egypt. He said this in reply to questions about the status of Egyptian Jewry. He claimed to have left Cairo in November with knowledge that Egyptian Jews were safe in their jobs and free from all discrimination.

Hussein’s group gave its interview under the auspices of the Egyptian Embassy. He said it was the feeling of Egyptian public opinion that Egypt could not consider peace with Israel until Israel returned to the 1947 partition boundaries, re-admitted or indemnified Arab refugees, and agreed to internationalization of Jerusalem.
