A Cairo Radio broadcast monitored here today continued to boast about the scale and “achievements” of the Egyptian naval war games, currently under way in the Eastern Mediterranean, pointing with explicit menace against Israel.
Stating that the Egyptian Navy “has a main role to play in the battle of the liberation of Palestine,” the broadcast declared: “Three-quarters of the Jews are crowded within easy reach of the Arab Navy in the narrow coastal strip between Haifa and Tel Aviv.”
Bracketing Israel with other “imperialists” who attacked Egypt in 1956, the broadcast stated: “Egyptian shores were a field day for imperialism’s ships in 1956. If imperialism tries to return, as it did in 1956, the Arab fleet will be ready.”
