Immail Sidky Pasha, Egyptian premier, was quoted by the Cairo radio today as offering an invitation to the ex-Mufti of Jerusalem to settle in Egypt. “I, an Egyptian premier, welcome his Eminence, should he wish to stay in Egypt,” Sidky Fasha said. “He is one of the best man of Palestine.”
The Manchester Guardian today, commenting on a letter from the head of the Arab Office in London in which the ex-Mufti is lauded for his fight against the “hideous injustice” done the Arabs, recalls in an editorial that the Mufti congratulated Hitler on behalf of the Arabs. “If this was really the wish of the Arabs, they cannot expect sympathy from the Allies,” the paper says. “If, however, it was a misguided action, the Arabs ought to reject the Mufti’s leadership.”
