Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak said he believes that replacing Yasser Arafat would create “chaos” among the Palestinians. Mubarak told the Egyptian newspaper Al-Ahram that the Palestinian Authority president has the experience necessary to negotiate a settlement with Israel, but he left open the possibility that Arafat would resign after a settlement is reached.
