Ehud Olmert and Mahmoud Abbas will meet Wednesday in Jerusalem.
Aides to the Israeli prime minister and Palestinian Authority president announced the talks Tuesday, saying they would touch on the core issues for any final-status peace accord as well as security concerns.
The meeting, to take place at the prime minister’s Jerusalem residence, will be the first since Olmert announced last week that he will step down next month.
Both sides have pledged to keep peace negotiations on track in hope of meeting a U.S.-set deadline for an accord before President Bush steps down in January.
