Ehud Olmert and Shimon Peres are expected to attend a gathering of Nobel laureates next week in Jordan. The Israeli Prime Minister’s Office said Tuesday that Olmert had accepted an invitation by Jordan’s King Abdullah II to attend the Petra conference May 15-16. Elie Wiesel is a co-organizer of the event, which aims to promote Israeli-Palestinian peacemaking and other regional issues. Peres, now Israel’s vice premier, won a Nobel Peace Prize for his role in the 1993 Oslo accords and is among some 40 laureates expected to attend.
