Ehud Olmert became head of Israel’s ruling Kadima Party. Kadima’s Parliament faction on Monday named Olmert, already the stand-in for ailing Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, as acting party chairman. Barring a sudden recovery by Sharon, Olmert looks set to run in the March 28 general election as Kadima’s candidate for prime minister.
