EI AI, Israel’s national airline, registered a $1.6 million operating profit in the past fiscal year. But this was offset by a cumulative deficit of $14.3 million, according to the annual balance sheet published here Monday. The airline management said EI Al could operate at a profit but is burdened by a total debt of $330 million on which high interest must be paid.
